Footloose

The Twilight Theatre is proud to present the high-energy dance musical, Footloose, opening Friday night, September 2 at the beautiful Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater in Peachtree City. The perfect way to end the summer, Footloose (directed by Tanya Gruber; assistant directors Nora Wilfong and Marissa Shenkle) features high-spirited dancing (choreographed by Brenda Hotard), costumes from the 80′s (coordinated by Leah Larson), and music you’ll want to sing along with (music directed by Alison Chambers; assistant music director, Allie Duncan).

Known for songs such as “Almost Paradise,” “Holding Out for a Hero,” and “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” Footloose is a story of the American spirit. When Ren (Tyler Walls), a carefree, on top of the world teen and his mother (Andrea Caldwell) move from big town Chicago to small town Beaumont where rock music and dancing are forbidden, the culture shock is palpable. With the prom right around the corner, Ren inspires his classmates to challenge the repressive ordinance banning rock music and dancing and, more specifically, the Bible-thumping preacher (Gary Morgan) charged with its moral enforcement. The ensuing struggle is not without friction, laughter, and tender moments, and in the end, we see that it’s more than just the teens who are liberated from long-standing repression. “This show, this cast, this crew, and this story – they’re all totally awesome,” says Director Tanya Gruber in her best 80′s lingo.

Performances are at 8 p.m. (gates open at 7:40 p.m.) on Friday nights, 9/2 and 9/9 and Saturday nights 9/3 and 9/10. Tickets are available at the Amphitheater Box office or online atwww.amphitheater.org. For more information, email Footloose@TheTwilightTheatre.com.

Toto Visits the Stage

Posted in: Uncategorized by Regan Grillo on June 27, 2011

At a recent acting rehearsal at the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater there was a very special guest! Toto aka Buddy was able to come check out the stage and be in a scene for the first time! Buddy is owned by Amy Beaucham who plays the Wicked Witch of the West/ Mrs. Gultch.

Paige McCauley, who plays Dorothy, loved Buddy and is so excited to work with him in the show. ‘He’s perfect! Oh he’s so adorable!” was her first reaction to her co-star. The other actors there were also taken by the dog as well and are so happy to be able to meet and interact with him. After “acting” in a few scenes, everyone could tell the Buddy is going to steal the show!

Come check out Buddy on July 21, 22, 23 and 24th at 8:00. Performances will be at the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater. Tickets are $17 for general admission, $15 for students, military personnel, seniors and tables of 6 are available for$125. Tickets can be purchased in person or by phone at the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater. For more information e-mail Wizard@TheTwilight Theatre.com.

Posted in: Uncategorized by Regan Grillo on June 16, 2011

The Tyrone Library had a visit from Dorothy,  Tin Woodsman, Glinda and some munchkins too! Oh my! This little group entertained over 75 parents and children with songs, dances and lines from the upcoming show in July.  After the performance, the kids were able to meet the characters and get autographs. Everyone enjoyed getting a sneak peek of this amazing show.

If you missed your chance to get a glimpse at what’s to come from Twilight Theatre, there will be two more performances by this group. This time at the Peachtree City Library! Catch Dorothy, Tin Woodsman, Glinda and Munchkins on July 5! And as a special treat,  Scarecrow and Lion will be performing too! The first performance is at 10:15am and the second one at 11:30am. Don’t miss this incredible preview of The Wizard of Oz!
